Eparel 50 Tablets contain Epalrestat, an aldose reductase inhibitor that helps manage diabetic neuropathy by reducing the accumulation of sorbitol in peripheral nerves. The formulation helps alleviate symptoms such as numbness, tingling, burning sensation, and pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy while protecting nerve function from hyperglycemia-induced damage.

Eparel 50 Tablets are indicated for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy.

Epalrestat is an aldose reductase inhibitor that selectively inhibits the enzyme aldose reductase, preventing the conversion of excess glucose into sorbitol through the polyol pathway. Accumulation of sorbitol within nerve cells contributes to osmotic stress, oxidative damage, and impaired nerve function in patients with diabetes. By reducing intracellular sorbitol accumulation, Epalrestat helps protect peripheral nerves from hyperglycemia-induced injury. In addition, Epalrestat inhibits high glucose-mediated neutrophil-endothelial cell adhesion and reduces the expression of endothelial adhesion molecules through inhibition of protein kinase C (PKC)-dependent pathways while increasing endothelial nitric oxide (NO) production. These actions contribute to improved microvascular function and support nerve health.

The recommended dose is one tablet three times daily before meals, or as directed by the physician.

Eparel 50 Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Epalrestat or any component of the formulation.
