Composition
Each 15 mL and 60 mL of Neurocetam Injection contains Piracetam BP 200 mg.
Features / Experimentation
Neurocetam Injection contains Piracetam, a nootropic and neuroprotective agent that enhances neuronal function by improving membrane fluidity and cerebral metabolism. It supports cognitive performance, promotes neuronal communication, and improves cerebral microcirculation. The injectable formulation is particularly useful for patients requiring rapid therapeutic intervention and is indicated as an adjunctive treatment for cortical myoclonus.
Indications
Neurocetam Injection is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of cortical myoclonus in adult patients, irrespective of its underlying etiology. It should be administered as part of combination therapy with other anti-myoclonic agents to improve neurological function and symptom control.
Pharmacodynamics
Piracetam acts by binding to the polar heads of phospholipids within neuronal cell membranes, restoring membrane fluidity and stability through the formation of mobile drug-phospholipid complexes. This action helps maintain the structural integrity and function of membrane proteins, improving neuronal communication and synaptic transmission. In addition to its neuronal effects, Piracetam also exerts beneficial vascular effects by enhancing microcirculation without causing vasodilation, thereby supporting cerebral function and cognitive performance.
Dosage and administration
Neurocetam Injection is administered intravenously twice daily, although the total daily dose may also be divided into three or four separate administrations, depending on the patient's clinical condition and physician's recommendation.
Contraindications
Neurocetam Injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Piracetam, other pyrrolidone derivatives, or any component of the formulation. It should also not be used in patients with cerebral hemorrhage, Huntington's chorea, or end-stage renal disease.
