Each tablet contains Acetazolamide 250 mg.

Acetamide Tablets contain Acetazolamide 250 mg, a systemic carbonic anhydrase inhibitor indicated for reducing elevated intraocular pressure in patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and acute angle-closure glaucoma when temporary reduction of intraocular pressure is required before surgical intervention. By reducing aqueous humour production, it helps achieve effective intraocular pressure control.

Acetamide Tablets are indicated for the treatment of chronic simple (open-angle) glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and for preoperative management of acute angle-closure glaucoma where delaying surgery is necessary to lower intraocular pressure.

Acetazolamide is a systemic carbonic anhydrase inhibitor belonging to the sulfonamide class. It inhibits the enzyme carbonic anhydrase, which catalyses the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide and dehydration of carbonic acid. In the eye, inhibition of carbonic anhydrase decreases the formation of bicarbonate ions, reducing sodium and fluid transport and thereby decreasing aqueous humour secretion. This results in a reduction in intraocular pressure, making it effective in the management of glaucoma.

The recommended dosage is 250 mg to 1 g daily, administered in 1 to 4 divided doses. Doses exceeding 250 mg per day are generally given in divided doses, or as directed by the physician.

Acetamide Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Acetazolamide, other sulfonamides, or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with hyperchloraemic acidosis, hypokalaemia, hyponatraemia, impaired renal function, marked kidney or liver disease, suprarenal gland dysfunction, liver cirrhosis, and chronic non-congestive angle-closure glaucoma.
