Composition
Each ml contains Brimonidine Tartrate 0.2% w/v and Timolol Maleate equivalent to Timolol 0.5% w/v Ophthalmic Solution.
Features / Experimentation
Betabrim Uno Eye Drops combine Brimonidine Tartrate and Timolol Maleate to provide dual-action reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who require additional IOP control despite monotherapy. The combination works by reducing aqueous humour production, helping lower intraocular pressure and protect the optic nerve from progressive glaucomatous damage.
Indications
Betabrim Uno Eye Drops are indicated for the control of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with chronic open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to intraocular pressure-lowering monotherapy.
Pharmacodynamics
Betabrim Uno Eye Drops combine two complementary anti-glaucoma agents. Brimonidine Tartrate is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that lowers intraocular pressure by reducing aqueous humour production. Timolol Maleate is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces aqueous humour formation without significant intrinsic sympathomimetic, direct myocardial depressant, or local anaesthetic activity. Together, these mechanisms provide effective and sustained reduction of elevated intraocular pressure.
Dosage and administration
Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart, or as directed by the physician.
Contraindications
Betabrim Uno Eye Drops are contraindicated in patients with bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sinus bradycardia, second- or third-degree atrioventricular block, overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock, neonates and infants under 2 years of age, or in patients with known hypersensitivity to Brimonidine Tartrate, Timolol Maleate, or any component of the formulation.
