Composition
Each film-coated tablet contains Dapagliflozin 5 mg.
Features / Experimentation
Dajio 5 Tablets contain Dapagliflozin, a selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by reducing renal glucose reabsorption and promoting urinary glucose excretion. The insulin-independent mechanism of action makes it an effective treatment option for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who require improved glycemic control. Dajio 5 may be used as monotherapy in patients who are unable to tolerate Metformin and provides convenient once-daily dosing.
Indications
Dajio 5 Tablets are indicated for improving glycemic control in adults aged 18 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The medication may be used as monotherapy when diet and exercise alone do not provide adequate glycemic control and the use of Metformin is considered inappropriate because of intolerance.
Pharmacodynamics
Dapagliflozin is a selective inhibitor of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2), which is primarily responsible for the reabsorption of filtered glucose in the proximal renal tubules. By inhibiting SGLT2, Dapagliflozin reduces renal glucose reabsorption, resulting in increased urinary glucose excretion in both healthy individuals and patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This insulin-independent mechanism effectively lowers plasma glucose concentrations and contributes to improved glycemic control.
Dosage and administration
The recommended dosage is one 5 mg tablet taken orally once daily, with or without food, or as directed by the treating physician. Treatment should be continued alongside appropriate dietary modifications and regular physical activity to achieve optimal glycemic control.
Contraindications
Dajio 5 Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Dapagliflozin or any component of the formulation. The medication is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) below 30 mL/min/1.73 m², end-stage renal disease (ESRD), or those undergoing dialysis.
