Each uncoated bilayered tablet contains Gliclazide IP 60 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride IP 500 mg (Sustained Release).

Dianorm-M OD Tablets combine Gliclazide, a second-generation sulfonylurea, with sustained-release Metformin Hydrochloride to provide complementary glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Gliclazide stimulates insulin secretion from functioning pancreatic β-cells while also exhibiting beneficial effects on platelet aggregation and microvascular complications. Metformin primarily reduces hepatic glucose production, improves peripheral insulin sensitivity, and decreases intestinal glucose absorption without promoting weight gain. The once-daily sustained-release formulation improves patient convenience, supports better treatment adherence, and provides sustained glycemic control.

Dianorm-M OD Tablets are indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus) in adult patients whose blood glucose levels are not adequately controlled with diet, exercise, and monotherapy.

Gliclazide is a second-generation sulfonylurea that lowers blood glucose by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells. In addition to its hypoglycemic action, Gliclazide improves microvascular circulation by partially inhibiting platelet aggregation and adhesion and reducing markers of platelet activation such as beta-thromboglobulin and thromboxane B₂, thereby potentially reducing diabetic microvascular complications. Metformin Hydrochloride is a biguanide that decreases hepatic glucose production, reduces intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity by enhancing glucose uptake and utilization. Clinical studies have also demonstrated that Metformin is associated with weight neutrality or modest weight loss while providing effective glycemic control.

The recommended dosage is one tablet orally once daily or as directed by the treating physician. The tablet should preferably be taken with meals to reduce gastrointestinal adverse effects and should be swallowed whole without crushing or chewing. Dosage should be individualized based on the patient's glycemic response and clinical condition.

Dianorm-M OD Tablets are contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, known hypersensitivity to Metformin Hydrochloride, Gliclazide, other sulfonylureas, sulfonamides, or any component of the formulation. The product should also not be used in patients in whom these medications are otherwise contraindicated according to clinical judgment.
