Seebind Powder contains Calcium Polystyrene Sulfonate, a cation-exchange resin indicated for the management of hyperkalemia. It binds potassium in the gastrointestinal tract in exchange for calcium, thereby reducing potassium absorption and lowering elevated serum potassium levels. It is particularly useful in patients with anuria, severe oliguria, and those requiring dialysis.

Seebind Powder is indicated for the treatment of hyperkalemia associated with anuria or severe oliguria. It is also useful in patients requiring dialysis for the management of elevated serum potassium levels.

Calcium Polystyrene Sulfonate is a cation-exchange resin supplied in the calcium form. It is insoluble in water and is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. In the intestine, the resin exchanges calcium ions for potassium ions, binding potassium and facilitating its elimination through the feces. This reduces serum potassium concentrations and helps restore normal potassium balance in patients with hyperkalemia.

Adults and elderly: The usual recommended dose is 15 g orally, three to four times daily, or as directed by the physician. Children and infants: Smaller doses should be administered according to body requirements, using 1 mEq of potassium per gram of resin as a guide for dose calculation.

Seebind Powder is contraindicated in patients with serum potassium below 5 mmol/L, conditions associated with hypercalcemia, known hypersensitivity to polystyrene sulfonate resins, and obstructive bowel disease. Oral administration is contraindicated in neonates, and the resin should not be administered to neonates with reduced gut motility, including postoperative or drug-induced gastrointestinal hypomotility.
