Each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension contains Amoxicillin Trihydrate IP equivalent to Amoxicillin 200 mg and Potassium Clavulanate IP (as Potassium Clavulanate Diluted IP) equivalent to Clavulanic Acid 28.5 mg.

Erox CV 228.5 Dry Syrup is a combination of Amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum aminopenicillin antibiotic, and Clavulanic Acid, a β-lactamase inhibitor. This combination extends the antibacterial spectrum of Amoxicillin by protecting it from degradation by β-lactamase-producing bacteria. The formulation provides effective treatment against a wide range of susceptible bacterial pathogens responsible for respiratory, ENT, skin, and genitourinary infections. The pediatric dry syrup formulation ensures convenient dosing and improved compliance in infants and children.

Erox CV 228.5 Dry Syrup is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, including ear, nose and throat (ENT) infections, skin and skin structure infections, lower respiratory tract infections, genitourinary tract infections, and gonorrhea.

Amoxicillin is a semisynthetic penicillin belonging to the β-lactam class of antibiotics. It acts by inhibiting enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of bacterial peptidoglycan, an essential structural component of the bacterial cell wall, resulting in bacterial cell death. Clavulanic Acid is a β-lactam compound structurally related to penicillins that irreversibly inhibits certain β-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria. By preventing enzymatic degradation of Amoxicillin, Clavulanic Acid enhances and broadens its antibacterial activity. Although Clavulanic Acid has minimal intrinsic antibacterial activity, it plays a critical role in overcoming bacterial resistance mechanisms.

For neonates and infants below 12 weeks (3 months) of age, the recommended dosage is 30 mg/kg/day divided into two doses administered every 12 hours, calculated based on the Amoxicillin component. For patients aged 12 weeks (3 months) and older, the recommended dosage is 45 mg/kg/day divided into two doses administered every 12 hours. The dry syrup should be reconstituted with purified water prior to administration and used according to the physician’s instructions.

Erox CV 228.5 Dry Syrup is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Amoxicillin, Clavulanic Acid, penicillins, or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions associated with penicillin therapy and in those with a previous history of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction related to Amoxicillin-Clavulanate treatment.
