Faropenem is a broad-spectrum penem antibiotic with both time-dependent and concentration-dependent pharmacodynamic properties. Its bactericidal activity is primarily time-dependent, while its post-antibiotic effect (PAE) is concentration-dependent. Faropenem exhibits rapid bactericidal activity against organisms such as Escherichia coli and demonstrates significant post-antibiotic effects against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and E. coli. The drug interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death.
