Fungicon Capsules contain Fluconazole 150 mg.

Fungicon Capsules contain Fluconazole, a triazole antifungal agent with broad-spectrum activity against Candida and Cryptococcus species. It inhibits fungal ergosterol synthesis, providing effective treatment for systemic and superficial fungal infections with the convenience of single-dose therapy for vaginal candidiasis.

Fungicon Capsules are indicated for the treatment of systemic candidiasis, mucosal candidiasis, cryptococcosis, and for the prevention of fungal infections in patients with malignancy.

Fluconazole is a highly selective inhibitor of the fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, which catalyzes the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. Inhibition of this enzyme leads to depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of toxic sterol intermediates, disrupting fungal cell membrane integrity and inhibiting fungal growth.

For the treatment of vaginal candidiasis, the recommended dose is Fluconazole 150 mg administered as a single oral dose, or as directed by the physician.

Fungicon Capsules are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or any component of the formulation. Concomitant use with medicinal products known to prolong the QT interval and metabolized by CYP3A4, including cisapride, astemizole, pimozide, quinidine, and erythromycin, is also contraindicated.
