Each vial contains Ceftriaxone 1 g and Sulbactam 500 mg for injection.

Gramocef S Injection is a broad-spectrum antibacterial formulation that combines Ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin, with Sulbactam, a potent β-lactamase inhibitor. This combination enhances antibacterial activity against β-lactamase-producing organisms and provides effective coverage against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is suitable for the treatment of moderate to severe bacterial infections and offers the convenience of once-daily or divided-dose administration.

Gramocef S Injection is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, uncomplicated gonococcal infections, and other bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is also recommended for surgical prophylaxis to reduce the risk of postoperative infections.

Ceftriaxone exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of susceptible bacteria. It remains effective against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including those producing certain β-lactamases. Sulbactam is an irreversible β-lactamase inhibitor that binds to β-lactamase enzymes, preventing the degradation of Ceftriaxone and thereby extending its antibacterial spectrum against resistant bacteria.

The usual adult dose is 1–2 g administered once daily or in equally divided doses twice daily, depending on the type and severity of infection. For uncomplicated gonococcal infections, a single intramuscular dose of 250 mg is recommended. For surgical prophylaxis, a single intravenous dose of 1 g should be administered 30 minutes to 2 hours before surgery or as directed by the treating physician.

Gramocef S Injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ceftriaxone, Sulbactam, cephalosporins, or any component of the formulation. Patients with a history of severe hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins or other β-lactam antibacterial agents may also be at increased risk of allergic reactions.
