Each tablet contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 50 mg, 100 mg, or 200 mg (DT). The oral suspension contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil equivalent to 50 mg/5 mL and 100 mg/5 mL.

Microcef contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is available in dispersible tablet and oral suspension formulations, making it suitable for both adult and paediatric patients. Microcef is effective in the treatment of respiratory tract and ENT infections, offering reliable clinical efficacy and convenient twice-daily dosing.

Microcef is indicated for the treatment of acute bronchitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, sinusitis, recurrent chronic tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and acute otitis caused by susceptible bacterial pathogens.

Cefpodoxime is a bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It demonstrates activity against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms and remains stable in the presence of many β-lactamases, including penicillinases and cephalosporinases, thereby maintaining its effectiveness against susceptible bacteria.

The recommended adult dosage is 100 mg to 200 mg twice daily, depending on the severity and type of infection. In children aged 2 months to 12 years, the recommended dosage is 5 mg/kg every 12 hours. The dosage should be adjusted according to the patient's clinical condition and as directed by the treating physician.

Microcef is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Cefpodoxime Proxetil, cephalosporin antibiotics, or any component of the formulation.
