Each tablet contains Cefpodoxime Proxetil 100 mg DT or 200 mg with Potassium Clavulanate 62.5 mg or 125 mg.

Microcef CV is a combination antibacterial formulation containing Cefpodoxime Proxetil, a third-generation cephalosporin, and Potassium Clavulanate, a potent β-lactamase inhibitor. This combination extends antibacterial coverage by protecting Cefpodoxime from degradation by β-lactamase-producing bacteria, making it effective against a broad range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. Microcef CV is widely used in the treatment of respiratory tract and urinary tract infections, offering reliable clinical efficacy with convenient oral dosing.

Microcef CV is indicated for the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections, upper respiratory tract infections, and urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacterial organisms.

Cefpodoxime is a bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial cell death. It retains activity against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including those producing certain β-lactamases. Potassium Clavulanate is a β-lactamase inhibitor structurally related to penicillins that irreversibly binds to β-lactamase enzymes, protecting Cefpodoxime from enzymatic degradation and enhancing its antibacterial spectrum.

In adults, the recommended dosage for pharyngitis and/or tonsillitis is 100 mg every 12 hours for 5–10 days, while uncomplicated urinary tract infections are treated with 100 mg every 12 hours for 7 days. In children aged 2 months to 12 years, the recommended dosage is 4–5 mg/kg every 12 hours (maximum 200 mg per dose) for 5–10 days. Dosage recommendations are based on the Cefpodoxime component and should be adjusted according to the severity of infection and physician's advice.

Microcef CV is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Cefpodoxime, cephalosporin antibiotics, or any component of the formulation.
