Each capsule contains Doxycycline Hydrochloride 100 mg and Lactic Acid Bacillus 5 Billion Spores.

Microdox LBX is indicated for adult patients who are prone to intra-abdominal bacterial infections and antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. The probiotic component helps maintain intestinal microbial balance during antibiotic therapy.

Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It enters bacterial cells through passive diffusion and specific transport mechanisms, where it binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, thereby preventing bacterial growth. Lactic Acid Bacillus is a probiotic that helps restore the body's natural intestinal microbial flora disrupted during antibiotic therapy. It aids digestion and produces lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and other beneficial metabolites that support gastrointestinal health.

In adults, the usual oral dose is 200 mg on the first day of treatment, administered as 100 mg every 12 hours, followed by a maintenance dose of 100 mg once daily. In children above 8 years of age weighing 45 kg or less, the recommended dosage is 4.4 mg/kg/day divided into two doses on the first day, followed by 2.2 mg/kg/day as a single daily dose or in two divided doses on subsequent days. For severe infections, up to 4.4 mg/kg/day may be administered. Children weighing more than 45 kg should receive the usual adult dosage or as directed by the treating physician.

Microdox LBX is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Doxycycline, other tetracycline antibiotics, Lactic Acid Bacillus, or any component of the formulation.
