Each vial contains Meropenem Trihydrate IP equivalent to Anhydrous Meropenem 1 g and Sulbactam Sodium USP equivalent to Sulbactam 500 mg.

Micropenam S Injection is a combination of Meropenem, a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic, and Sulbactam, a β-lactamase inhibitor with intrinsic activity against Acinetobacter species. This combination offers enhanced antibacterial coverage against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative organisms and β-lactamase-producing bacteria. Micropenam S is specifically indicated for the treatment of serious lower respiratory tract infections in adults and provides rapid bactericidal action with excellent tissue penetration.

Micropenam S Injection is indicated for the treatment of lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria in adult patients.

Meropenem is a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic that exerts its bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It readily penetrates the cell wall of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), particularly PBPs 2, 3, and 4 in Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as well as PBPs 1, 2, and 4 in Staphylococcus aureus. Sulbactam is a synthetic β-lactamase inhibitor that protects Meropenem from enzymatic degradation by β-lactamase-producing organisms. In addition, Sulbactam possesses intrinsic antimicrobial activity against Acinetobacter species and Bacteroides fragilis, thereby expanding the antibacterial spectrum of the combination.

Micropenam S Injection should be administered by intravenous bolus injection over approximately 5 minutes or by intravenous infusion over 15 to 30 minutes using the recommended compatible diluents. The usual dosing interval is every 8 hours or as directed by the treating physician. Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with renal impairment.

Micropenam S Injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Meropenem, Sulbactam, carbapenem antibiotics, β-lactam antibiotics, or any component of the formulation.
