Moxifloxacin Injection is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent indicated for the treatment of a wide range of serious bacterial infections. It demonstrates potent activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication. The once-daily intravenous formulation provides convenient dosing and is effective in the management of respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and pelvic inflammatory disease in adults.

Moxifloxacin Injection is indicated for the treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia in adults aged 18 years and above, skin and soft tissue infections, and pelvic inflammatory disease caused by susceptible bacterial organisms.

Moxifloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibacterial agents. It exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This mechanism effectively prevents bacterial multiplication and leads to bacterial cell death.

The recommended dosage is 400 mg administered intravenously once every 24 hours. The duration of therapy depends on the type and severity of infection and should be determined by the treating physician.

Moxifloxacin Injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin, other quinolone antimicrobial agents, or any component of the formulation.
