Pharmacodynamics
Moxifloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibacterial agents. It exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This dual inhibition prevents bacterial multiplication and leads to rapid bacterial cell death.
Dosage and administration
The recommended dosage is 400 mg orally once every 24 hours. Moxigram Tablets may be taken with or without food. The duration of therapy depends on the type and severity of infection and should be determined by the treating physician.
Contraindications
Moxigram Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin, other quinolone antimicrobial agents, or any component of the formulation.
