Mycophen S Tablets contain Mycophenolic Acid, a selective immunosuppressive agent indicated for the prevention of acute organ rejection in renal transplant recipients. It suppresses the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes, helping reduce immune-mediated graft rejection while improving graft survival. Mycophen S is used as part of combination immunosuppressive therapy under specialist supervision following organ transplantation.

Mycophen S Tablets are indicated for the prophylaxis of acute organ rejection and the treatment of refractory organ rejection in patients receiving allogeneic renal transplants. It is also indicated to improve graft and patient survival in patients receiving allogeneic cardiac transplants as part of an appropriate immunosuppressive regimen.

Mycophenolic Acid (MPA) is a selective, reversible, and non-competitive inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH), the key enzyme involved in the de novo synthesis of guanosine nucleotides. By inhibiting this pathway, MPA suppresses the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes, which depend primarily on de novo purine synthesis for activation and growth. This selective inhibition produces potent immunosuppressive and cytostatic effects on lymphocytes while sparing most other cell types that utilize alternative salvage pathways for nucleotide synthesis.

The recommended dose is 720 mg twice daily (1,440 mg/day) administered on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after meals, or as directed by the transplant specialist. Tablets should be swallowed whole and should not be crushed, chewed, or broken.

Mycophen S Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Mycophenolic Acid, Mycophenolate Sodium, Mycophenolate Mofetil, or any component of the formulation.
