Phytoral Tablets contain Ketoconazole 200 mg.

Phytoral Tablets contain Ketoconazole, a broad-spectrum systemic antifungal agent effective against a wide range of fungal pathogens. It inhibits fungal growth by interfering with sterol synthesis and is indicated for the treatment of systemic and mucocutaneous fungal infections when alternative antifungal therapies are not available or tolerated.

Phytoral Tablets are indicated for the treatment of systemic fungal infections, candidiasis, chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, vaginal candidiasis, oral thrush, and candiduria.

Ketoconazole is an imidazole derivative that acts as a steroidogenesis inhibitor by inhibiting several cytochrome P450 enzymes involved in fungal sterol synthesis. It primarily inhibits 17α-hydroxylase and also inhibits 11-hydroxylation and, at higher doses, the cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme, thereby reducing cortisol and aldosterone synthesis. Its antifungal activity results from inhibition of ergosterol synthesis, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, leading to impaired membrane integrity and inhibition of fungal growth.

The recommended initial dose in adults and adolescents is 400–600 mg daily, administered orally in two or three divided doses. If required, the dose may be increased rapidly to 800–1200 mg daily in two or three divided doses, or as directed by the physician.

Phytoral Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ketoconazole or any component of the formulation and in patients with acute or chronic liver disease.
