Each tablet contains Cefuroxime Axetil 250 mg or 500 mg.

Pulmocef Tablets contain Cefuroxime Axetil, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including many β-lactamase-producing organisms. It is effective in the treatment of respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and gynecological infections. Pulmocef offers convenient oral administration with proven efficacy against a wide range of susceptible bacterial pathogens.

Pulmocef Tablets are indicated for the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), gynecological infections, skin and soft tissue infections, acute bacterial sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, acute otitis media, and other infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.

Cefuroxime is a bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to essential penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bacterial cell lysis and death. Cefuroxime is stable against many bacterial β-lactamases, allowing it to remain effective against numerous resistant organisms. This stability contributes to its broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and clinical effectiveness in treating susceptible bacterial infections.

For adults and adolescents aged 13 years and older, the recommended dosage is 250 mg every 12 hours for 10 days for pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis. For acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, secondary bacterial infections of acute bronchitis, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections, the recommended dosage is 250 mg or 500 mg every 12 hours for 5 to 10 days depending on the severity of infection. In paediatric patients younger than 13 years who can swallow tablets whole, the recommended dosage for acute bacterial otitis media and acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis is 250 mg every 12 hours for 10 days, or as directed by the treating physician.

Pulmocef Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity, including anaphylaxis, to Cefuroxime Axetil, cephalosporins, penicillins, other β-lactam antibiotics, or any component of the formulation.
