Cefixime is a semi-synthetic, oral third-generation cephalosporin with potent bactericidal activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial cell lysis and death. Its stability against many β-lactamases makes it effective against several resistant bacterial strains.

For paediatric patients aged 6 months and older, the recommended dosage is 8 mg/kg/day, administered either as a single daily dose or in two divided doses of 4 mg/kg every 12 hours, or as directed by the treating physician.

Ritecef O Dry Syrup is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Cefixime, other cephalosporins, or any component of the formulation.
