Alprazolam belongs to the 1,4-benzodiazepine class of central nervous system (CNS) depressants. It binds to benzodiazepine receptors associated with the GABA-A receptor complex, enhancing the inhibitory action of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This results in anxiolytic, sedative, muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant effects. The sustained-release formulation provides prolonged therapeutic action with controlled drug release.

Initial dose: 0.5 mg to 1 mg once daily. The recommended total daily dose ranges between 3 mg and 6 mg, depending on the patient's clinical response and tolerability. Or as directed by the physician.

Anxit 0.5 SR Tablets are contraindicated in patients with: Known hypersensitivity to Alprazolam, other benzodiazepines, or any component of the formulation. Acute narrow-angle glaucoma.
