Each sustained-release tablet contains Gliclazide 60 mg SR and Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg SR.

Dianorm M OD1000 Tablets combine Gliclazide, a second-generation sulfonylurea, with sustained-release Metformin Hydrochloride to provide dual-mechanism glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Gliclazide stimulates insulin secretion from functional pancreatic β-cells, while Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity. The once-daily sustained-release formulation offers prolonged glycemic control, improves treatment adherence, and supports long-term diabetes management.

Dianorm M OD1000 Tablets are indicated for the treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (Type 2 diabetes mellitus) in adult patients whose blood glucose levels are not adequately controlled with diet, exercise, and single-drug therapy.

Gliclazide stimulates insulin release from pancreatic β-cells by facilitating calcium ion (Ca²⁺) transport across the β-cell membrane, thereby enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion. It also helps reduce hepatic glucose production, contributing to improved blood glucose control. Metformin Hydrochloride decreases hepatic glucose production, reduces intestinal absorption of glucose, and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity by increasing glucose uptake and utilization in peripheral tissues. Together, these complementary mechanisms improve fasting and postprandial glycemic control while reducing insulin resistance.

The recommended dosage is one tablet taken orally once daily or as directed by the treating physician. The tablet should preferably be taken with meals and swallowed whole without crushing, chewing, or breaking. Dianorm M OD1000 Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Gliclazide, Metformin, or any component of the formulation. The medication is also contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic pre-coma or coma, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic insufficiency, patients receiving Miconazole therapy, during pregnancy and lactation, and in patients with porphyria where Gliclazide should be avoided whenever possible.
