Composition
Each tablet contains Glimepiride 2 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg (Sustained Release).
Features / Experimentation
Diapride M2 Tablets combine Glimepiride and Metformin Sustained Release to provide dual-action glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Glimepiride stimulates insulin secretion from functioning pancreatic β-cells, while Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, improves insulin sensitivity, and decreases intestinal glucose absorption. This complementary combination helps control both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels, making it an effective option for patients whose diabetes is not adequately controlled with diet, exercise, or monotherapy.
Indications
Diapride M2 Tablets are indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and single-agent therapy do not provide adequate glycemic control.
Pharmacodynamics
Glimepiride lowers blood glucose primarily by stimulating insulin release from functioning pancreatic β-cells and also exerts extra-pancreatic effects that improve insulin sensitivity. Metformin is an antihyperglycemic agent that decreases hepatic glucose production, reduces intestinal glucose absorption, and enhances peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. The combination of Glimepiride and Metformin Sustained Release provides complementary mechanisms of action to achieve improved glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Dosage and administration
The recommended dosage is one tablet taken orally once daily with breakfast or the first main meal of the day, or as directed by the treating physician. Dosage should be individualized according to the patient's glycemic response.
Contraindications
Diapride M2 Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Glimepiride, Metformin, or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma.
