Flurisone Eye Ointment contains Fluorometholone 0.1%, a topical ophthalmic corticosteroid formulated to relieve steroid-responsive inflammatory eye conditions. It helps reduce ocular inflammation, redness, swelling, and discomfort while providing prolonged contact time with the ocular surface through its ointment formulation.

Flurisone Eye Ointment is indicated for the treatment of non-infected and infected inflammatory ocular conditions where corticosteroid therapy is considered appropriate.

Fluorometholone is a synthetic ophthalmic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory activity. It suppresses the inflammatory response by inducing lipocortin proteins, which inhibit phospholipase A2, thereby reducing the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This mechanism helps alleviate ocular inflammation, redness, pain, and swelling while reducing tissue damage associated with inflammatory eye disorders.

Apply a half-inch ribbon of ointment into the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) two to four times daily, or as directed by the physician. In chronic conditions, treatment should be discontinued gradually by reducing the frequency of application.

Flurisone Eye Ointment is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fluorometholone or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in most viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva, mycobacterial infections of the eye, and fungal ocular infections.
