Composition

Tablet: Each tablet contains Cetirizine Hydrochloride 5 mg. Syrup: Each 5 ml syrup contains Cetirizine Hydrochloride 5 mg.

Features / Experimentation

Antihistaminic formulation designed for effective relief of allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, pruritus, and urticaria. Provides selective peripheral H1-receptor blockade for prolonged symptomatic relief of allergic conditions.

Indications

Indicated for seasonal allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, perennial allergic rhinitis, pruritus, and urticaria.

Pharmacodynamics

Cetirizine hydrochloride is a potent antihistamine that selectively inhibits peripheral H1-receptors, thereby reducing histamine-mediated allergic symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, itching, and urticaria.

Dosage and administration

Tablets: Adults and children above 12 years: One tablet twice daily or as directed by the physician. Syrup: Children aged 6–12 years: 5 mg to 10 mg once daily. Children aged 6 months–5 years: Initial dose of 2.5 mg once daily in the evening.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, piperazine derivatives, or any component of the formulation.
