Microgat Eye Ointment contains Gatifloxacin 0.3%, a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic formulated for the treatment of external bacterial eye infections. It provides broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative ocular pathogens by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis, helping eliminate infection and promote healing.

Microgat Eye Ointment is indicated for the treatment of external bacterial infections of the eye caused by susceptible microorganisms.

Gatifloxacin is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and chromosome segregation during cell division. By disrupting bacterial DNA synthesis, Gatifloxacin effectively eliminates susceptible ocular pathogens responsible for external eye infections.

Apply a ½-inch ribbon of ointment into the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye three times daily for the first two days. For the next five days, apply a ½-inch ribbon twice daily, or as directed by the physician.

Microgat Eye Ointment is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Gatifloxacin, other quinolone antibiotics, or any component of the formulation.
