Spasmopriv Capsules contain Fenoverine, an effective antispasmodic that relieves smooth muscle spasms of the gastrointestinal tract. By regulating calcium ion influx into smooth muscle cells, it helps reduce painful intestinal contractions, providing symptomatic relief in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and other gastrointestinal spastic disorders.

Spasmopriv Capsules are indicated for the treatment of smooth muscle spasms of the gastrointestinal tract and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

Fenoverine exerts its therapeutic action by inhibiting calcium ion (Ca²⁺) channels. It reduces the rapid influx of calcium through voltage-dependent channels and inhibits the release of calcium from intracellular storage sites. This action synchronizes abnormal spasmodic contractions of gastrointestinal smooth muscles, effectively relieving spasms and associated symptoms.

The recommended dosage is Fenoverine 100 mg three times daily (t.i.d.) or 200 mg twice daily (b.i.d.) for a maximum duration of 6 weeks, or as directed by the physician. In elderly patients, the maximum recommended dose is 100 mg three times daily.

Spasmopriv Capsules are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fenoverine, chronic liver disease, history of hyperthermia during or after anesthesia or physical exertion, renal insufficiency, and mitochondrial myopathy.
