Vasodilator anti-anginal formulation designed for rapid relief and prophylaxis of angina pectoris associated with coronary artery disease. Helps improve coronary blood flow and reduce cardiac workload.

Indicated for acute relief and acute prophylaxis of angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease.

Nitroglycerin releases free radical nitric oxide (NO), which activates guanylate cyclase leading to increased cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) levels in vascular smooth muscle. This results in dephosphorylation of myosin light chains, smooth muscle relaxation, and vasodilation, thereby reducing myocardial oxygen demand and improving coronary circulation.

The usual adult dose is Glyceryl Trinitrate 2.5 mg or 6.5 mg three to four times daily or as directed by the physician.

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to nitrates, hypotension, hypovolemia, or raised intracranial pressure.
