Composition
Each tablet contains: Micronized Fenofibrate 160 mg & Atorvastatin 10 mg
Features / Experimentation
Fibrovas Tablets combine Micronized Fenofibrate and Atorvastatin to provide comprehensive lipid management in patients with mixed or combined dyslipidemia. Fenofibrate primarily lowers triglycerides and increases HDL cholesterol, while Atorvastatin effectively reduces LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol. This dual-action therapy helps improve the overall lipid profile and supports the reduction of cardiovascular risk when used alongside appropriate dietary and lifestyle modifications.
Indications
Fibrovas Tablets are indicated for the treatment of combined hyperlipidemia in patients with normal hepatic and renal function.
Pharmacodynamics
Micronized Fenofibrate is rapidly converted to its active metabolite, fenofibric acid, which activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα). Activation of PPARα enhances the activity of lipoprotein lipase, promotes the breakdown of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, reduces the production of apolipoprotein C-III, and increases the elimination of triglyceride-rich particles from plasma. These actions result in reduced triglyceride levels and increased HDL cholesterol. Atorvastatin is a selective and competitive inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. It reduces hepatic cholesterol synthesis, increases LDL receptor expression, and enhances the clearance of circulating LDL cholesterol, leading to reductions in total cholesterol and LDL-C.
Dosage and administration
The recommended dose is one tablet once daily at night, or as directed by the physician.
Contraindications
Fibrovas Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fenofibrate, Atorvastatin, or any component of the formulation. They are also contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, active liver disease, or gallbladder disease.
