Composition
Each tablet contains Moxonidine 0.2 mg or 0.3 mg.
Features / Experimentation
Moxilong Tablets contain Moxonidine, a centrally acting antihypertensive agent that selectively stimulates imidazoline I1 receptors in the brainstem. This selective mechanism reduces sympathetic nervous system activity, leading to decreased peripheral vascular resistance and effective blood pressure control with minimal effects on heart rate. Moxilong provides convenient once-daily dosing and is suitable for the long-term management of hypertension.
Indications
Moxilong Tablets are indicated for the treatment of hypertension in adult patients requiring effective blood pressure reduction.
Pharmacodynamics
Moxonidine selectively interacts with I1-imidazoline receptors located within the rostral ventrolateral medulla of the brainstem, an important center regulating sympathetic nervous system activity. Activation of these receptors reduces sympathetic nerve discharge to the heart, kidneys, and peripheral blood vessels, resulting in decreased systemic vascular resistance and lowering of arterial blood pressure. Due to its high selectivity for imidazoline receptors, Moxonidine produces effective antihypertensive action with comparatively fewer central nervous system adverse effects than conventional centrally acting antihypertensive agents.
Dosage and administration
The usual recommended starting dose in adults is 0.2 mg once daily. The tablet may be taken before, during, or after meals. Dose adjustments should be made according to the patient's blood pressure response and clinical condition under the supervision of a physician.
Contraindications
Moxilong Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Moxonidine or any component of the formulation, a history of angioneurotic edema, sick sinus syndrome, sinoatrial block, second- or third-degree atrioventricular block, bradycardia, malignant arrhythmias, cardiac insufficiency, severe coronary artery disease, unstable angina pectoris, severe hepatic insufficiency, and severe renal insufficiency.
