Composition
Each tablet contains Isosorbide-5-Mononitrate 10 mg / 20 mg.
Features / Experimentation
Anti-anginal nitrate formulation designed for prophylactic management of angina pectoris and coronary artery disease. Provides vasodilatory effects that reduce myocardial oxygen demand and improve coronary circulation.
Indications
Indicated for prophylaxis of angina pectoris, coronary heart disease post-myocardial infarction, and therapy of pulmonary hypertension.
Pharmacodynamics
Isosorbide-5-mononitrate relaxes vascular smooth muscle resulting in dilation of peripheral veins and arteries. Venodilation reduces venous return and myocardial oxygen demand, while arterial dilation improves coronary blood flow and decreases cardiac workload.
Dosage and administration
One tablet once daily or as directed by the physician.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity or idiosyncratic reactions to nitrates or nitrites. Concomitant use with phosphodiesterase inhibitors is contraindicated due to risk of severe hypotension.
