Each tablet contains S(-)-Amlodipine Besylate 2.5 mg or 5 mg.

S-Amlong Tablets contain S(-)-Amlodipine Besylate (Levoamlodipine), the pharmacologically active enantiomer of amlodipine. As a long-acting calcium channel blocker, it provides effective once-daily control of blood pressure and relief from angina by producing sustained peripheral vasodilation. The active S-enantiomer offers targeted calcium channel blockade, helping to reduce peripheral vascular resistance while maintaining prolonged antihypertensive efficacy.

S-Amlong Tablets are indicated for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris.

S(-)-Amlodipine, also known as Levoamlodipine, is the pharmacologically active enantiomer of amlodipine and belongs to the dihydropyridine class of calcium channel blockers. It inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells. The reduction in intracellular calcium concentration decreases vascular smooth muscle contractility, promotes vasodilation, reduces peripheral vascular resistance, and consequently lowers blood pressure. Its vasodilatory effect also improves coronary blood flow, making it beneficial in the management of angina pectoris.

The recommended adult starting dose is 2.5 mg orally once daily, with a maximum recommended dose of 5 mg once daily. Elderly patients and patients with hepatic impairment may be initiated on 1.25 mg once daily, or as directed by the treating physician.

S-Amlong Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to S(-)-Amlodipine, Amlodipine, or any component of the formulation.
