Each tablet contains Azilsartan Medoxomil equivalent to Azilsartan 40 mg or 80 mg.

Zilarta Tablets contain Azilsartan Medoxomil, a potent and highly selective angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) designed for effective once-daily management of hypertension. By selectively blocking the AT1 receptor, it provides sustained blood pressure control, reduces peripheral vascular resistance, and offers cardiovascular protection. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents to achieve optimal blood pressure targets.

Zilarta Tablets are indicated for the treatment of hypertension in adult patients, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive medications.

Azilsartan selectively antagonizes the effects of angiotensin II by blocking its binding to the AT1 receptor in multiple tissues, including vascular smooth muscle. It exhibits a much greater affinity for the AT1 receptor than the AT2 receptor, thereby inhibiting angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. This results in relaxation of blood vessels, reduced peripheral vascular resistance, and effective lowering of blood pressure.

The recommended dosage is one tablet orally once daily, or as directed by the treating physician.

Zilarta Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to azilsartan or any component of the formulation. Concomitant administration with aliskiren-containing products is contraindicated in patients with diabetes mellitus. The use of Zilarta Tablets should also be avoided during pregnancy.
